One of the most fun pre-Airwaves games (for certain characters) is looking through the new crop of excellent band names that just keeps on coming, year after year.  The Grapevine newspaper just did a good article along these lines pointing out the minefield that is the Iceland Airwaves band name line-up.

I admit it, I was drawn to Hide Your Kids by the name. The desire to know more about them, and the fact that there are some very promising songs from this band led me to want to find out more about these fresh-faced newcomers.

Hello Hide Your Kids! Where are you right now, and what are you doing?

Hello! We‘re at an office space above an Irish pub which Daníel calls his home. The heating system here doesn‘t work so therefore we are currently freezing.

Who is in the band?

Haukur on bass, Jón Rúnar on drums, Eyrún on keyboards, Kiddi on guitar and Daníel sings.

I have two kids. Why should we hide our kids? Who should we hide them from?

Everybody should hide them, we wish our parents had hid us. We‘re sorry.

What should we expect from your show? And why should people choose it over everything else that will be going on at the same time?

This is our first Iceland Airwaves appearance and we‘re gonna do our best to make it memorable. We‘re proud of our songs and it will be a nice way to start the festival.

Have you had a good look at the Airwaves schedule? What else are you really excited to see?

Future Islands and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. And then the locals would definitely be Low Roar for his presence, In The Company of Men for their power and Vio for their songs.

Finally, can you give some advice for people attending Iceland Airwaves and visiting Iceland for the first time?

Dig deep and bring a sweater.
