Dear Iceland Airwaves,
Thank you for all the lovely bands you have booked for the festival this year. You seem to have hit the bullseye again with bands clearly about to be huge (Everything Everything, Hurts, Mount Kimbie, Neon Indian), the amazing Robyn and loads of great international stuff just waiting to be discovered (start with Yunioshi, Le Corps Mince De Francoise, The Amplifetes…). Thank you also for all the amazing and cherished Icelandic acts already booked, loads of my favourites and I'm excited to see them again. But, you also seem to have missed some great Icelandic bands. I'm sure this is a terrible oversight, so I'm sure you'll find the following list useful (and a reminder to everyone that Airwaves is not an exhaustive list of all great Icelandic music). So how about adding this bunch to that great line-up?
FM Belfast. Obviously. Or the party is incomplete. Unmissable.
Tropical – FM Belfast by VNN
Jan Mayen. (pictured above) I'm pretty sure I've seen them every year. I don't want to break that!
My Summer As A Salvation Soldier. Gorgeous, bittersweet songwriting, delivered brilliantly. Or his other band…
Gavin Portland. Louder, faster than MSAASS. Electric live.
Fjallabraedur. I can't resist this choir of fishermen, backed by drums & electric guitar, the noise they make is incredible.
Ghostigital. Again, I've seen them every year. Surely Einar Orn will make an appearance? Spellbinding.
Not Clean by ghostigital
Jeff Who? Grown up pop songs, irresistible.
Sin Fang Bous. Seabear are playing, so let's hope for a show from their lead singer's other project.
Nora. One of the best Icelandic discoveries of the year, would be great to see them play for the first time.

Petur Ben. Not been seen live for a few years… would be magical.
Please?

Hey
You’ve probably already seen this in the full schedule from Airwaves, but just in case I wanted to point out that most of the abovementioned bands will be performing at Airwaves.
FM Belfast will close the festival on Sunday night at Nasa. They should start at 23:00.
Jan Mayen will be at Amsterdam on Thursday night at 00:30 (last band at Amsterdam that evening).
My Summer as a Salvation Soldier will perform at Risið on Saturday night at 01:00
Ghostdigital will be performing at Tjarnarbíó, Saturday night at 00:00.
Sin Fang (formerly Sin Fang Bous) will perform on Wednesday at Venue. He should start at 00:30 and is Venue’s last artist that evening
Pétur Ben is scheduled to perform twice. Wednesday at Sódóma (20:20) and Thursday at Tjarnarbíó (22:30), closing the program at Tjarnarbíó that evening.
I agree about Fjallabræður though. They would’ve been great fun to see at Airwaves!
Have fun at the festival and if you need a proper schedule check out our clashfinder, available here: http://toppfimmafostudegi.com/?p=2384. A printable schedule for each day of the festival 🙂
