Isn't this an Icelandic music blog? Enough of this weekend city-break nonsense. Although as I sit on a Friday night in London I know that this would be another good weekend to take that weekend break in lovely old Reykjavik – spies tell me that I could expect to see live shows from Singapore Sling, Evil Madness, Jeff Who? and Sudden Weather Change, and that sounds like a load of fun. But I'm here missing all that, but here is a list of stuff I know;

– I've just installed Spotify. It's impressive, free if you accept the occasional advert which are fairly non-intrusive. I've been going half an hour and have had one 20 second advert. A little light on Icelandic acts on first inspection although right now I'm listening to Mugison, with Sigur Ros lined up next. I like it, essentially like itunes but with all songs on it. For free.

– Twitter is also a lot of fun. And also a hotbed of Icelandic music. Steed Lord, Hafdis Huld, Retro Stefson update regularly among many others. There's a big presence from a certain troublesome editor of Grapevine. And i think Sprenjuhollin might like it a little toooooo much sometimes! There are loads more, come and join in.

– The new GusGus album will be called 24/7 and last 56 minutes, that's 5 tracks worth in GusGus time. Vocals by Daniel Agust (yay!) and Jimi Tenor.

– Mugison is mastering live tracks for release, hopefully (please!) including that rocked up version of Murr Murr.

– My Summer As A Salvation Soldier has UK dates planned for the end of March (Manchester 26th, Sheffield 27th & London 28th).

– So do We Made God, starting in Edinburgh on 19th April and culminating at The Barfly in London on April 27th. 9 shows in 9 nights, fine effort.

– Sprengjuhollin are planning world domination, and not just via twitter. They are recording English language versions of some tracks, and heading off to that talent-spotting hotbed at SXSW.

– Hjaltalin's European tour was a huge success, as were their appearances at the By:Larm festival in Norway, and on TV show "Good Morning Norway" (!) – also going down a storm in Oslo this week are Retro Stefson and Olafur Arnalds.

– Bjork has a 4 disc set ready for release in March. Entitled "Voltaic" it will contain live recordings (audio & DVD) of the Volta tour as well as remixes of tracks from that most recent album.

– And personally, I've only just got round to discovering new band Sin Fang Bous – actually the lead singer Sindri from Seabear's solo project. The album should be on it's way from Iceland right now, the stuff on myspace is fabulous. I love a new and exciting discovery. There's a fab IMX interview here.
