home of football. The mighty, unexpectedly affluent, occasionally brilliant, often frustrating but frankly important Queens Park Rangers play there, and I and many others love the club and the area we spend so much time in following the ups, downs and inbetweens. The club has a special brand of flair about it, and so does the area. Shepherds Bush is central to London, yet retains its own identity and it is wonderfully multi-cultural. I don't know, but I can't imagine many roads offering such a wide range of national cuisines than Uxbridge Road.
And now, not content with being the home of football (according to iceblah) it has been officially (according to the NME) annointed the home of rock n roll. You can see the full list of artists from the area on the link, but most of The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Who ain't bad. And Mr Pete Doherty, isn't from there,
but he is a huge QPR fan – so that's alright by me.
OK, an iceblah top 5 – and this one has been a struggle, and I'm sure I've forgotten something. But for now… The iceblah top 5 when football and music collide.
Collapsed Lung – Eat My Goal
Mano Negra – Santa Maradona
Billy Bragg – God's Footballer
Lightning Seeds – Three Lions
Eg – Eidur Smari Gudjohnsen
