Mugison in London

Mugison, the nicest man in music Mugi(with the possible exception of Petur Ben – Mugison’s fabulous guitarist with Michael Jackson moves (in a good way) and a brilliant solo album) is playing in London on Wednesday night. I saw him about a month ago at the same venue and it was superb. He used to be a one man band kind of act, playing gorgeous songs on guitar and using laptop samples as the rest of the band. First album "Lonely Mountain" got me seduced, the first few batches had hand-stitched covers by the man himself (I have one!). His second album "Mugimama" is a masterpiece, quality from start to finish. Then a couple of movie soundtracks "Niceland" and "Little Trip", the latter featuring a great song called Go Blind and also a brilliant cover of Little Trip To Heaven by Tom Waits. He’s now got a full band, playing very very loud (just finished supporting Queens Of The Stone Age in Canada) and a new album "Mugiboogie" which quite rightly won album of the year in Iceland last year. Maybe the best bit is the re-invention of some of the older, quieter songs like Murr Murr to fit with the new noisy band. This will be my fourth time (2 in Reykjavik, now 2 in London) seeing the full band version of Mugison, and I guess about my tenth in total. He’s absolutely brilliant, I can’t recommend it enough. Go Mugiband…
